Steven Cain is the 2009 British Open Shogi Champion, winning the trophy, £40 and a ticket to New York to play in the World Amateur Shogi Championships in November.

Edward Ishiyama is the 2009 British Kyu-Class Shogi Champion, winning the trophy and £20.

There was also a Blitz tournament. Tony Hosking is the 2009 British Open Shogi Blitz Champion, beating Yosuke Kaneko in the final.
